Two figures by a fountain

Sometimes, there are stories that really change you. They ignite a fire in this place in your mind, in your heart, that you never knew existed. They resonate in you like a song you think you heard before but can't point out when. Because they feel so true, that every hushed word, every longing look and every held up breath has you on the edge of your seat.
And their characters are so real that you can almost touch them. You could have walked past them in the street this morning. Maybe you took the bus with them. Or had lunch at the same restaurant. They are so true that you may have been their friend, loved them, married them. They may have changed your destiny. They may have torn you apart.
Anyway, for knowing them you'll never be the same again.
Because their stories changed yours.

And that, dear Sir, is the kind of stories I want to write.

Yeah, I just watched Atonement.

Félix a dit…

And yet...
No matter how had we try, these people are merely shades in our lives, an evanescent tone of grey that you can see but never truly touch.

I envy you, because to me, a character is a passer-by, dwelling through my mind, leaving just a faint regret.
And I'm dying to meet them, at last.
